Quotes

  • Guns are a part of Alaska's culture and a core tool of a subsistence lifestyle. I grew up hunting, my husband is a big game hunting advocate and I will continue to own guns and support the right of Alaskans to own guns. We can take common sense action, and we must. Provisions like secure storage laws, reasonable waiting periods and universal background checks can make all of us safer while still preserving the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment.
  • There is no Alaska way of life without our fisheries. And that’s why I’m in this fight: to bring back our fish, restore abundance, ensure Alaskans can feed their families and stand up to the rigged D.C. system that’s failing Alaska.
  • I will stand up to anyone to increase Alaska energy production, create good-paying Alaska jobs and lower energy costs.
  • I take umbrage with some of these extreme environmental groups. Because I don’t feel like they — many of the people in that movement — are willing to curtail any of their energy uses, whether it’s on their computer or in their car or plane trips, but they expect us to stop producing.
  • [my voice] is a powerful counterbalance to the Lower 48 extremists who want to turn all of Alaska into a preserve.
